Why we use Navigation Skills
Navigation means knowing where you are and picking a safe, efficient route to where you want to go.
Safety and enjoyment are the main reasons to learn to navigation. Coastal navigation also focuses on avoiding hazardous areas that could be an immediate threat to a boater’s safety, areas such waters with strong currents, strong winds, big waves, or large rocks. Recognizing these hazards and knowing how to avoid them is also a part of coastal navigation.
